Family in-law social event

My mother-in-laws 80th is coming up soon…I am thinking of sending my apologies as am finding social occasions increasingly difficult as have speech, manual dexterity and mobility problems. It will be 2.5hrs car journey to venue and have just recovered from sciatic episode. I also have a spc and will have to bring a night bag. In addition my 16 year old daughter with asd will go under duress, socially poor with cousins but given that on last family event(4 yrs ago) same cousins asked had she autism and was she gay not a surprise! she is grandish otherwise. Advice please. TIA

Hi Rose. Try not to feel any stress over it - neither of you have to go anywhere that you don’t want to. It’s perfectly acceptable to politely decline and send a card with a nice message inside x
