I also find going to the loo very tiring. It often causes my bladder to spasm and I sometimes by-pass. I can take quite a while to pass a stool as I have hardly any pushing capability.

This is the reason for my recent silly post…of having a watertight valve in our wrists for evacuation. Getting hoisted and transferred to the commode and removal of clothing, then getting dressed again after, is just sooooo knackering|!

Poll I am exhausted afterwards absolutely knackered, then you wonder what did I do today? Oh yer I spent two hours trying to have a pooh and two hours recovering from having a pooh. I had trouble having a wee this morning and I have a catheter… don’t ask.

Hi,

You’ve probably thought this through already. If so, please ignore. Re the poo thing - any chance discussing the merits in your case of using the Peristeen system. I got this because I don’t know when my bladder or bowel are full and needing to empty. I found myself unable to go out of the house for fear of messing myself with leakage. It was our continence nurse who advised this bowel wash system and I have gained my life back now being able to “evacuate” daily (I understand the usual is every two days). Although it’s a bit of a fiddle till you get used to it, it takes about half and hour minus shower time. Now I don’t get into a panic, I’m not exhausted by the process and I have the control and not my MS!

Wish you well.

Anne

Anne I normally use a quofora but that day had used it with no success and as soon as my wife went out I got stomach cramps and new I needed the loo but it took a lot of effort. The quofora has made my life so much easier it means I am normally able to go with ease. I used to use micro enemas but about once a month would get a build up which took lots of effort to move. My contenence nurse was going to put me on Peristeen but ended up with the quofora its a similar beast but different.

ain’t it mad that we discuss our poo and wee with strangers?

it’s a bit liberating really.

i love you all to pieces and don’t know who i would turn to otherwise.

hope you have all been.

Carole it’s the things like that which people find hard to talk about which can cause us enormous problems, I used to spend days trying to have a pooh. Exhausting myself in the process and if I can make a bit of a difference for some one else my job here is done. It’s great how we all open ourselves up and as you say

i love you all to pieces and don’t know who i would turn to otherwise.

We may never meet but we are all joined by that invisible thread of this poxy illness
