my legs & balance went crap many yrs ago, the concentration & eyes plus mood, usual joyz of M/S; & other cog’ issuse, any howz, i got a little (lot) pissed off with my mountain bike lying outside & laughing at me every time i would pass by reminding me of days long gone, motorbikes then puss bikes thet than became (fall off bikes)!! so i even parked that up, with safety in mind!! GRR…
I digress, so i bough myself a new bicycle training stand of Amazon ( rock’n f"%$n roll) & it dosn’t fall over (yet)!! Hopefully it will slow the demise of my legs & stamina simply because i can do it when i want, rain or shine in my house with the radio on’ js peddle to the tune, rest to the talk, {don’t over do yourself} no race: one winner:
ok ok it cost approx £150, but the bike cost more & was doing zip!! & getting me down coz i can no longer safely use it! but now together they help me, i think! hope!! & it helps me with core arms & grip & stuff, im not crazy (my opinion) but it does do ma mind gud to!! (win, win)
yes i know a proppa gym trainer can be cheaper, but i used a my bicycle
I had to give up proper biking a few years back because my balance was awful. Bought a stationary bike. Took a while to get over myself, but once I did, I spent many a happy time on the new bike cycling away, not going anywhere, either watching football on the telly or singing loudly and badly listening to music on my iPod. The stationary bike kept me somewhat active long after I stopped doing “proper” exercise. Enjoy your bike.
Hi - also use an exercise bike virtually every day. Was only able to cycle on the super low setting for a few mins when I first started. My children used to say, but mum this is so easy, but it wasn’t for me. I can now do about 20 mins and always start on a low setting, then go to slightly higher settings and after a while revert to the lower settings again. Also, try and do stretching exercises on my bike. Rather unsteady when I’m finished, so have to sit. Do feel it helps to keep my muscles slightly stronger and perhaps helps with my overall mobility. Also, means I can eat an extra choc. Guess we need to keep cycling while we can. X
