ESA Assessment

Hope everyone is well. Not posted for a while. As well as having MS i have a CHAIRI MALFORMATION. Only treatment for the malformation is brain surgery. If i go ahead with surgery then I am more than likely to have relapse. And no guarantee surgery will work and surgery also comes with risks. I was on tecfidera for 10 months but they took me off this as symptoms were gtn worse and im in constant pain every day. They will not give me any other DMD as they do not know what symptoms the MS or the CHAIRI are causing as they have very similar symptoms. Anyway made a big decision in January to leave my job. But under advice of CAB I was told not to be hasty and submit sick lines to my employer and to do this for 28 wks so would go right on to ESA without there being break in payment. Im nrly at 28 wks and ready to submit my claim for ESA. I feel I am stressed out at thought of all these forms and thought of going for assessment. So my question is will they send me for assessment as I won my PIP appeal. I receive standard care and enhanced mobility rate. I also have letter from GP and MS Nurse both say how i need regular help, cannot walk 5m unaided. Which I will send in with the form. I also know of some people who never had to go for an assessment. Just stressing me out at thought of another assessment. Just looking for bit of advice to put my mind at rest. Thanks xx

Hello hun.

Not sure anyone here will be able to give you the answer you seek.

I know it is extremely stressful for you, but I hope things dont get any worse.

Trying to send you some strength.

With regard to your ESA claim, it really is worth subscribing to this service.

There is advice on how to complete your claim to give you the best chance of success. There is a lot of it - so quite hard work - but maybe someone could help you if it is not your thing.

If you make a good job of it, and have strong supporting paperwork from GP, Neuro and MS Nurse etc. there is a chance that you may not have to attend an assessment - and if you do you will be well prepared.

Good luck with it all

Hi, I get ESA and when I claimed I was on standard living and highest mobility for pip. Anyway filled out the forms sent medical letters I had with it and was awarded it but got put in the work assessment group. Then about two months later I was put in the support group. No assessment needed and I now get the highest living on pip as well now. So please don’t worry too much as I am sure it will be fine.

Good Luck

Thanks fod all comments x

I have been on ESA from 2014,this year they asked me to go to an assessment.

I had this on the 16th June.It went ok the lady who done the assessment understood how my anxiety/ms effected my day today living.

I received this week notice that they are to keep me in a support group,I also asked for a copy of the report which they sent me as well.

I hope all goes well for you Violet and I know the feeling of anxiety only too well.

Jamie.
