Elbow Joint Pain at Night?

Hi,

Does anyone get this? For the last 5 nights I’ve been woken numerous times in the night with pain in both elbow joints. Also the soft tissue between each knuckle on both hands is swollen too.

I have had this elbow joint pain before, about 2 years ago and then got pins and needles shooting from the elbows to my fingers which lasted a fair few weeks, I was sent for a nerve test but by the time I got that appointment and had the test the symptoms had gone and the test came back clear, my GP put it down to Ulnar Nerve or my Thyroid. I was diagnosed with MS just a week ago and told by the neuro that the episode 2 years ago was most likely MS.

Does this mean I might be going into another relapse? I just had a big one in May this year? I haven’t started steroids yet as they haven’t arrived from the neuro yet and I’m not seeing the MS nurse until an appointment comes through in the New Year. So should I contact my GP or try to reach the neuro/nurse sooner or is this just a common gripe with MS?

It might not be MS causing your joint pain, we can still have general wear and tear issues.

osteoarthritis perhaps, Neurofen is a good over the counter option.

I used Gucosamine and Condroitin years before being diagnosed with MS.

Then again it could well be MS, with a side order of elbow ouch!

Try the Neurofen anyway.

Good idea to run it by your GP.

I have no idea whether or not this is a relapse, Make a note of it for next time you see/speak to your neuro/MS nurse.

Hi, You’ve described exactly hat I have been experiencing for last week. I had this in September for 6 weeks, with neck, shoulder and back pain too, but was all day and only subsided a little when my back was lying on something. I have arthritis and DXd with fibro. I have a range of other symptoms too but trying to get doctor to rule out MS as not convinced its fibro.
