DVLA & MS

Thanks Kevin, will do.
Dear all, am a bit worried now. I was diagnosed in 2000 with relapsing remitting MS, informed DVLA but wasn’t asked to send off licence. They just said it would stay on my file. Do you think I should ring them again?
I suppose I’m similar to yourself, I was Dxd 1996 and informed DVLA who wrote back to say everything was fine it had been noted on my records however no restrictions were put on my licence, I remember at the time I was asked if I used hand controls etc which I didn’t and don’t now,. assume it must e ok.

I was originally diagnosed with RRMS in 1999. Informed the DVLA immediately after diagnosis and no change made to my (paper) driving license.

Recently re-evaluated as SPMS and had to notify the DVLA of this change. Now need to use hand-controls to safely control a vehicle so advised them as soon as this was apparent.

A new 3-year photocard license is now being issued and the ‘old’ one has had to be returned.

I was able to continue with my original driving license for the first 11 years of MS because the symptoms didn’t effect my ability to drive (…used to be able to ride a motorbike in those days too!!)
