Drop foot falls

Continuing the discussion from Drop foot query:

I have been referred to a neuro physio as I had a bad fall on Monday and have noticed I have been tripping over nothing I had tried to ignore it but after my fall I had to do something! Another thing to knock you down I wish I could be my old self again I liked that person more than this one. What will the physio do ?
Cheers

Hello,
I drag both feet and if I didn’t use my walking aids outdoors, I fear I would fall flat on my face.
Old self: used to enjoy running for exercise.
I find the physio routine much too tiring nowadays; squats no can do anymore as left knee buckles.
Current self: just single step ups every morning --I’m no physiotherapist or Joe Wicks but I find if I keep movement simple, it works for me.
Best,
JP

The physio will probably assess you by watching you walk and will then give you various exercises. That’s what mine did. We revisit the exercises from time to time. I haven’t actually fallen although I did trip up stairs inside (with 2 plates of dinner in my hands!) I had two amazing bruises to show for it, but the dinner was intact!

Yes, I hate it too. My left foot/knee/hip have not worked properly to lift the foot up for many years, but associated loss of proprioception means that my system has never ever managed to adjust and compensate accordingly. So it’s all visual control for me. I cannot lift my eyes from the ground for a single step or I hit the deck. But it depends on the nature of the damage - some things can be improved with appropriate exercise. I hope that you find that your troubles are amenable to improvement.
