Do you notice beauty more?

I remember seeing a spider nest with baby spiderlings just emerging. I was with my wife’s cousin who would have just walked by them never having noticed them and he said as much, I put it down to awareness and pace of life but saying that I have always been a nature lover. I recently started drawing and painting (very badly) it is very therapeutic and opens your eyes to the beauty of life. So yes you are not alone, we are blessed by the beauty all around.

It is wonderful to read how many people who struggle with disability, still find good things to enjoy in the world.

To make up for the fact I can’t get out into the countryside easily these days, I’ve started reading books about nature. The other day I finished one about the year in the life of a woodsman (A Year in the Woods). And now I’ve just started one about nature & joy (the Moth Snowstorm). A couple others I’ve really enjoyed are Common Ground (by Rob Cowan), and WIldwood (by Roger Deakin)

It’s surprised me how much it makes me feel like I’m engaging with nature & the outside world, even though I’m only reading the words of other people.

I have problems processing information whist walking, so I enjoy just sitting and watching even more. I love going to the cantabrian coast ( that’s north Spain) and wandering around the dunes slowly looking for interesting plants. I once found a lovely oregano plant that liked growing in sand. I took a bit home and it did not flourish.

The peace is wonderful, but when rain is due, the farmers fertilise the fields with Er…aromatic natural fertilizer in spray form. That smell is so strong that it’s like a aromal football crowd cheering. We were shouted at by a robin on the way home from our walk it distracted me from picking some bay leaves. I like the easy to pick ones. No chance of falling. I live by those words.
