Discrimination?

Hi

Its been a while since I was last here but have a question that I hope someone will be able to answer. My wife and I are relocating from Kent to Gloucestershire, not the best time to do this with Covid around but my wife is a key worker and has a new job. Yesterday i received a call from our broker for our mortgage and mortgage insurance telling us that they have been informed that we cannot get cover at the moment because I have MS.

I am lucky in that my MS is well controlled and I am fit and yet, because of covid and my MS, I cannot get insurance on a mortgage, is this right, is this even legal?

If anyone out there knows about this, i would love to hear from you.

Jason

I’m not in England, so I can’t really help you, but this can’t possibly be legal. We have non-discrimination clauses for things like that, and I would think that there would be better protections in Europe. I hope you can get it resolved soon!

Please do look into this further. I am sure this must be illegal. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Anne

I would look into this further it must be wrong. I do feel that insurance companies are going to make things difficult and or expensive to get certain cover because of Covid. Perhaps it’s the company your broker deals with, if I was you I’d ring a random insurer and ask them their policy.

Good luck
