Hi
I’m probably going to irritate all of you by stating this, but I’m over a stone lighter post diagnosis than I was before, despite my diet remaining pretty much the same. My neuro reckons it’s because my muscles have to work twice as hard as before in order for me to do basic day to day stuff such as walking, stairs, lifting, carrying, standing, balancing etc.
HOWEVER, he did acknowledge that 2 things I do certainly help to keep the weight off, which are;
Regular exercise sessions (whatever you’re capable of doing, just so long as it makes you drip with sweat for 20-30 minutes 4 times a week) and
Zero sugar. Just cut it down to the bare minimum, so no cakes, biscuits, chocolate, sweets, fizzy drinks or juices etc. By way of compensation, be more relaxed about how many carbs such as crisps, bread etc you can have. You have to have some enjoyment after all!
Take care
CP
Very interesting CP as I’m supposedly needing my muscle spacticity to keep mobile. I’m really craving peanuts at the moment, I hope they’re not to fattening. I know I saw somewhere that the fats they contain aren’t bad for you. I’ll just avoid the chocolate covered variety.
Take care
Cath xx
