Nina if you join the online slimming world, you can do your own weigh in at home, you just pick he day you want for your weigh in day, weigh yourself, just log in to your account and they encourage you too,i found it really good,i paid upfront for 3 months then cancelled it knowing i can rejoin when i want,it cost me £20 a month, so for about £5 a week its worth it,theres all sort of recipies and ideas too,it really does motivate you.

Hi Guys thanks again for all your comments, I’m going to look into Turmeric and Cinnamon supplements, suggested by Clarkey thanks.

Pat I think your right about starvation diets, I was hoping that my body would realise that and start eating the fat, but that’s not happening, I will look into the 5-2 diet where you eat normally (what ever that is) for 5 days, then restrict your diet for 2 days.

Mrs J and others I am still worried about SW as I can’t weigh myself, so other than waiting till my cloths fall off, I will not know if it is working.

I don’t know feel there is a gap in the market, if someone could find a diet that works for us that are in wheelchairs, well they could earn a fortune.

Thanks guys well keep you informed of my progress Deborah

Thanks Mrs J,

Like Pat, I think I will start in the new year…I’ve actually lost 6 lbs over the last few months and I’ve actually no idea why!

I think possibly I might fall in to the category of eating too little…my family are always telling me I eat like a bird!

Did you find the teapot? Hope you’re getting settled now?

Take Care,

Nina X

I find it hard to weigh cause of balance problems and stiffness in the legs Im all wobbly

Me and Frazer went to slimming world at the beginning of the year, i did lose a bit, the consultant was lovely, but i did find it embarrassing standing on the scales,… i needed two people to support me,… i think i mistakenly felt that i could do it by myself, but although iv’e not put loads on i wish i was slimmer. For me the biggest indicator of my weight …is whether my clothes fit, i tend to go by that rather than scales Frazer loved going he got loads of fuss.

l am still doing the 5-2 diet - it has become a way of life now. Lost 12lbs quickly to begin with - but slower now. At least l can now say l am 9st 12lb - and still gradually losing. l bought a couple of books cheap from amazon - by Kate Harrison Ultimate Diet Recipe book and the 5-2 Diet Book. The days l am fasting l feel so energised - not hungry at all now. And in general l find l eat much less as my stomach has shrunk.

l weigh myself once a fortnight - and never want to go over the 10st mark again. l used to - 35yrs ago - worry if l got over 8st. So l am now content to be a size 14 -.Not struggling to do up my jeans is wonderful. ln fact l have to now wear a belt to keep them up.

lt was the nurse at a well-woman clinic who weighed me and said l was one point from being classed as obese - that shocked me into deciding l needed to change my eating habits.

Hi France’s and well done, can you tell me on the 5-2 diet, I’m I correct in thinking 5 days eating normally then 2 days of no food at all? Or can you eat a small amount, say breakfast and some fruit, say an apple and can you drink anything ie coffee?

Thanks Deborah (can you suggest a book)

lf you read my post - l have said what books l recommend. You can pick any two days to fast - and they do not have to be consecutive and a woman can eat 500cals and 600 men.

You can always google it.

Sorry I should have read your post probably.

Michael Mosely covers the fasting diet in this programme, although 5-2 diet is not really a fast and just eating less on a couple of days.

Hi all. Ive spent all my adult life thinking, sleeping, drinking diet! ...Ive had great success, like losing almost 7 stones by going to WW classes. I lost the weight over 15 months and kept it off for 5 years. I think losing weight (when we are active and well), is so much easier than actually keeping it off. I guess most of you will agree with me there, eh?

I`ve also lost weight with SW.

I became a SW class leader and then some years later, a WW class leader!

At 40, I weighed 8st 12lb, passed my driving test and got my first car.I had a full time day job and ran 3 WW classes. Everything was great!

5 years later, I noticed I was slowing down. My left leg felt like wood and I began tripping up over fresh air! Yep, I was tested, needed a wheelchair part time and was diagnosed with PPMS.

Fast forward to today…at 63, I probably weigh around 15.5 stone I guess. I am unable to stand or walk and cannot get onto scales But I know I am too fat!!!

Around 4 years ago, I joined SW with my sis and us 2 and the class leader did our best to get me onto scales…no good, I couldnt stand long enough. But the leader, a lovely lass called Tamina…Halifax class…let me go to classes without paying and encouraged me to lose weight. We reckoned I`d lost about 2.5 stones and I felt great again.

Then I began with toenail trouble…couldnt get shoes on…didnt go out…had surgery…and yep, the weight came back with extra as a bonus!!!

A few months ago, I changed my diet to a healthy one and felt my bra loosen a bit…but I was still lumpy, bumpy and heavy.

I got dispondent and am back to eating crap.

I know I gotta do summat.

Innit a chuff!

luv Pollxx

Hi Poll I so know what you are going through, and have gone through its hell and I hate being like this. Some days I get so depressed and feed up with the way I am, even though I’m trying as hard as I can, I don’t seem to be getting aware. I know I’ve lost a couple of stone but that was during the first couple of months of dieting, still I won’t give up. Monday I start the 5-2 diet see how that goes, I’ll let you know. Keep going Poll and keep positive. All the best to you and everyone else Deborah

Deborah, l really love the 5-2 diet. And found the Kate Harrison books [amazon cheapies] very helpful - and good for dipping into [rather then the biscuit barrel]. lt gives me more energy. And has stopped me from bingeing by shrinking my stomach and appetite. l now use a smaller plate for meals on ‘feast’ days. l rarely eat carbs. Bread/cake/biscuits etc. Do eat a bit of pasta and rice - but not much. And certainly no cereals. l find carbs make me so tired - they sap my strength. And the worst thing about them is they are so addictive. You would need a cast iron will-power not to eat all the doughnuts in the pack - or the jaffa cakes - biscuits etc. So you do need to assert some control on the shopping! — lf it is not in the house - the easier it is. Dark chocolate eaten in moderation is good for you.

Last night - l did prawn cocktails - with avocado. No bread and butter for me. Then cod and salmon with a roasted red pepper sauce. The others had gratin dauphinoise -posh potato/cheese/garlic/cream. and green beans. lt was lovely. And the fish only took 10 mins in the oven - whilst we ate the prawn cocktail. l did make a pud - as it was my friends birthday. l made a luxury bread and butter pudding with fruit pannatone sliced up with orange zest [no butter or sugar needed] broken pieces of dark choc - covered in beaten eggs and creamy milk. lt was fabulous - and l did have a taste. So easy to do - Morrisons now make fresh pannatone in their bakery section. And it was on offer 99p. We liked it so much - l think l will serve it as an alternative to christmas pudding.

l can’t manage to shop - l can drive - but not walk around a supermarket anymore. So have to rely on others to do it.

l do eat a lot of fish. When whole salmon is on offer at one of the supermarkets - l buy 2 or 3 whole ones and ask them to fillet it. [keep the heads for dogs dinner or stock] l then cut it into portions and cling film and freeze. And you can cook from frozen.

l like to put chinese 5 spice - or cajun spice on it and just pan fry - grill - or microwave. Cooks so quick. A friend gets us lovely big cod fillets and bags of prawns from the fish market.

Once you get use to the fasting days - best to not eat anything until the afternoon - after a while you will find you can go for longer. l usually have one ryvita with a piece of smoked salmon on it with cucumber and lemon juice. Then eat at night - piece of chicken fillet or fish - with lots of green veg or salad. Don’t forget to use a small plate. l drink a mug of good strong espresso coffee first thing in the morning - with some milk. Then l drink water and also redbush tea during the day. l do keep a pot of brazil nuts/walnuts/almonds in the kitchen - and l do eat a handful of them everyday.

Don’t worry about weighing yourself. Your body weight will go up and down all the time during the day - and you will get disillusioned if your scales show you different to what you hoped. lts the tight waistbands that will give you the right result - once you find them start to loosen - and then you find you need a belt to hold them up - then you need to move to a tighter hole - then you know the weight is shifting.

l have one of those stretchy thera-bands - and l can loop it around one foot - or both - and wrap the ends around my hands and push my legs away from me - in a chair or on a bed - and use the tension to work the muscles and joints. And l pass it around my back and hold onto the ends and straighten my arms out in front - to the side - up and down. Amazing what you can do with a simple band - and exercise the whole body even sat down.

Come on girls [and boys] - we can do it!!! l think mentally l feel so much better - probably all the B Vits and D3 l take as well. Lost 16lbs now. Up another notch on the belt to keep my jeans up.

Spacejacket you are an inspiration, you have certainly given me a push, I will a carry on using some of your ideas, I’ll keep you informed of my progress. Tell you what this post has had some many people talking, we could start are own diet club here online? Or maybe we could just help and encourage each other here? Keep it up everyone Deborah

I have found that slimming world is great, the diet is so easy, and you get a lot of support, I go on steriods and my drugs do not help me. I have put 4 stone over the last 7 years, byt I lost a stone in 6 weeks with this diet.

Slimming world, do ready made meals in Iceland, and they are super. They also do soups. and the diet is so easy to cook. Look it up on the internet.
