Diagnosed this week....

Hi all! So yes, diagnosed this week. Went into A&E with double vision, and left four days later with MS. Never had any previous symptoms. The MRI with contrast showed a T2 hyperintense lesion (?). Discharged with a 5 day supply of steroids. Been referred to a neurology team at QMC. what do I do after 5 days if the diuble vision persists? Do I just wait now for my GP to connect me to the MS group at the local hospital?

Hi Christopher,

Blimey, that must be a lot to process!

I don’t know the answer to who you would contact if you vision problems persist, but maybe your GP would be the first port of call, or perhaps the neurology consultant’s secretary at the hospital you have been referred to? They are usually pretty helpful. Another alternative might be the MS nurse at the hospital you have been referred to.

I hope your referral comes through quickly.

This site has loads of really helpful and reliable information about MS and treatments etc when you get round to thinking about that.

wishing you well,

Alison

My diagnosis followed more of less complete los of vision in my right eye. Steroids help speed up the process of repair but no more and without steroids the double vision should subside. I didn’t take steroids and my right eye vision returned of its own course.

Can’t answer your question about what next but it might be best to contact the hospital where you were diagnosed. The NHS wheels can turn slowly!
