Hello, My name is Will and I have recently been diagnised with PPMS. i have been reading about leg stiffness and cramps on this site. This is a new experience for me and disturbs my sleep. Is exercise the answer ?
If not prescribed already, ask your GP or MS team for some Baclofen. I take 30-40 mg / day but they’ll build you up slowly. I also find 2x 500mg paracetamol and 1x 200mg ibuprofen once a day takes the edge off, on the days when it’s particularly bad.
Exercise can make things worse! My regime concentrates on stretching more than exercise these days.

I find magnesium glycinate eases problems with spasm/cramp and no harm in trying. A bit of stretching before bed is a good idea too.
Speak with your ms team, if they have a neuro physio they’ll be able to check out areas of stiffness and provide you with some stretches to do daily and can recommend medication to help as well.
I’ve had issues with medications for spasticity and recently started on sativex which has really helped alongside the stretching.
I hope you find some relief .
Yeah; as with others try baclofen and/or magnesium in first instance, and do regular stretching.
I also find deep breathing exercises help..if in a quiet space for long enough!
All the best.x
