I’m wondering if there’s anyone here who’s been taking Copaxone for a while. I’ve been on it since December, and I’m in the stage where the injection sites swell up and itch. Am I right in thinking that this is a stage that eventually passes?
I’ve mainly been injecting into my hips and thighs, using the auto injector. Last week, I tried it in my arm, and the itching nearly drove me insane!
Any tips on good injection techniques? Any suggestions for dealing with itchy, lumpy hips and thighs? I’m going back to work in a couple of weeks, and I’d like to feel a bit more confident in dealing with it.
I’ve been on Copaxone for too many years, I believe for 12 years.
I used to inject different areas of the body by rotation: you can try injecting the glutes and the belly. I used to massage for a minute the injected area to avoid those lumps. Make sure you rotate the area, keep a journal if it helps… and keep exercising as much as you can.
Lots of love,
Ana
Hi, thanks for your answer. It’s good to know that there are people who stay on it long term. May I ask if you feel it’s been effective for you? I suppose it must have been, or you would have changed!
I tend to rotate around my hips and thighs areas. Plenty of chunk there to place a needle! I’ve avoided my belly so far because of the itching, bearing in mind that my clothes would chafe on it.
I’ll definitely try massaging the area after injections. I’m just coming out of the end of a flare up, so I’m trying to build up the exercise I do.
Thanks again,
