Morning everyone. I finally had a PPMS diagnosis after nearly three years investigation. One of my symptoms is an inability to control the extremes of my emotions - I can go from incontrollable hysterics to floods of tears and back in two minutes. Despite every other symptom I have I am finding this the hardest to cope with.
Has anybody else found a solution.
It’s not a problem I have, but it is a known symptom of MS.
Pseudobulbar affect (pathological laughing and crying) | MS Trust
I hope you find a solution.
There is a treatment for pseudobulbar affect. It was described on MS Selfie by Professor Gavin Giovannoni, a neurologist based at Barts in London. Hope this link works: Inappropriate laughing and crying - by Gavin Giovannoni
If the link doesn’t work, search for MS Selfie. You don’t need to subscribe to read the post. The article is in the Archive for November 2022. I hope the information helps.
Thank you for the link - very helpful. The treatment seems to be anti-depressants, some of these made my walking and balance much worse but something to talk to my doctor about and worth investigating further. Thank you for taking the time to post - it is really helpful.
