I have just undergone all of the tests for MS and have been waiting months for the results. I phoned the neurologists secretary today to ask when they would be with my gp and she said ‘I can see your lumbar puncture result and it looks fine, so you should be fine’ . The thing is the reason I am being tested is because I have had an MRI which showed lesions on my brain. And the neurologist hasn’t even looked at all my results yet so how can the secretary say I’m ok??i thought people can still get diagnosed even with a negative LP?? Any help would be great
LPs are not a definitive test of MS - there are plenty of people with MS who have had a negative result. And a secretary is going well above her pay grade to say you’ll be ok! It is ridiculous to wait months for MRI results. You know there were lesions though? Have you seen the report? And if the report’s been done, what on earth is the neuro waiting for?? Your neuro hasn’t left or something? Can your GP not get involved and ask for an update at least? How frustrating!!! Karen x
I have been suffering with vertigo for 5 months so gp sent me for an MRI. This showed multiple lesions (not sure how many) so neurotic said he thinks MS. Have since had evoked potentials, MRI to spine and neck and lumbar puncture. Have had no results as was told I had to wait for all 3 to have any and apparently my neuro has left which I didn’t know so got a new one. Just don’t think she should have said anything cause now I’m left completely confused Than for your reply
That was meant to be neuro not neurotic haha
LOL re neurotic - may be about right actually
My suggestion is to completely ignore the secretary, but to push for an appointment with the replacement neuro. You’ve waited more than long enough!
Kx
Thank you. Yeah that what I’m trying to do just a bit complicated as results are going to my GP as they haven’t got an appointment for me with the neuro yet. Thanx for your help
