Child with MS

Hello,

I have a daughter who has struggled with her bowel and bladder for years. She is currently under GOSH and is undergoing gastro related investigations. She struggles with toileting and is practically incontinent for long periods of time.

She has vision problems and wears glasses, her eyesight isn’t something that has been flagged up by the optometrist but is short sighted.

Her balance and coordination is awful and that is why we originally took her to the opticians. School staff are commenting on how uncoordinated and clumsy she is where she is constantly having accidents or falling over children.

She tends to be quite forgetful but we cannot work out if that’s just because she’s a 5 nearly 6 year old who is more interested in playing than talking!

All I’m trying to do is find out whether these are common or could allude to MS? Would MS be prevalent in a child?

I’m absolutely no medic but I understand that although it’s is pretty uncommon, MS can occur in young children.

Try phoning the MS Society help line for more info and any advice?

Hi meganwillis1998, Some years ago there was an article in the MS matters mag, telling of a young girl who’d been diagnosed with MS, her father had it and I think she showed signs of it age 3yrs, can’t remember how old she was on diagnoses, but I think it was under 10yrs. I really hope it turns out not to be MS, but I agree with Hank Dogs, get some advice, good luck.
