Car insurance and DVLA

Hello,

Can anyone help please? I’ve informed the DLVA of my diagnosis, but I’m awaiting a response. I haven’t driven so far but I’m thinking that as my Neuro has said I can still drive, the DVLA response is just paperwork and when it’s received I can then inform the insurer of the diagnosis and expiry date of the new licence. So I can still drive in the meantime.

Am I over simplifying this? How did you all deal with this please?

Thanks

I informed the DVLA and carried on driving. When I told my insurance they really weren’t interested.

I continued driving, DVLA sent me paperwork & then went to the opticians for various tests, not that much different to standard eye test. DVLA came back to me with 3 year license. Rang my insurance company who said if DVLA are happy for me to drive there is no impact on insurance. Hope that helps

Thanks for your replies. I called the insurer and they said to call back once I’ve got a response from DVLA. So ill keep driving in the meantime.
