Cant stop crying

I cant stop. Dont know why but i feel crap and now my business wants to change my hours & ive gone off sick with depression.

They feel a 7.30 to 3.30 is no longer any good and want an 8 to 515 one week & 8 to 330 the next. Im sorry but a bit of continuity is needed dont you. Ive tried writing to managers but this has fallen on deaf ears

So MS Neuralgia and now depression i cant deal with a change of hours at the moment any i deas

hiya

i can understand the continuity comment for UR job. but for others shift work is enjoyed by others because of the variation. if ur managers arent listening i dunno what to suggest. could you in time get used to the new shifts?

time off would be benificial to get ur head round the situation and also address any cbt or medication issues.

hope someone can be more practical-just wanted to let u know that ur words had been read and i feel ur upset.

take care of of you-thats important.

Hi Christopher, Seems like everything is getting on top of you. It so hard, really really HARD to put up with changes when you are feeling so rotten and depressed.

Have you seen your GP? I think you need to and get laid off sick for as long as possible to deal with this depression.

Have you spoken to your GP about the change in hours and how upset you are? Just wondering if GP wrote a letter to your manager??

Anyway Christopher I think right here, right now, you need to cope with your state of mind before you deal with the new hours.

Take a step back from the work situation and try your best to let it go for now. Go and see your GP and really explain how depressed you are and ask for help. Don’t refuse antidepressants… they can really help. Also ask about CBG (cognitive behaviour therapy) which can help a lot with depression and stress.

The reason I think you can’t stop crying is because the pressure and stress have built up to breaking point. Let the tears come for now… you might feel better for it.

Hang on in there Christopher. Remember, you have MS and it can really muck about with your thinking and your emotions.

Be gentle with yourself hon… and remember, ‘one day at a time’.

I can’t see why some continuity with working hours or some other solution would be so hard for your employers. I would think it would fall under “reasonable adjustments” and it is definitely worth looking into with CAB and perhaps if you belong to a union, your union rep?

The MSS or your local MS society group may also be able to advise. You are entitled to be considered for reasonable adjustments at work which would benefit both you and your employer.

Good luck

I was the same a cpl years ago,I cryed at nothing, terrible feeling, and wife was helpless, get ur self to a counceller, and talk,I found it helped me,also citalopram, anti depressants helped, work is only thinking of themselves, unfortunatley,I was forced to stop working, because work would not accomadate me,:(,but keep positive,u will get there

Christopher,

l think we have all been there at sometime or another. Make sure you tell your GP exactly how you are feeling - don’t hold back.

The GP will possibly prescribe anti-d treatment - which most of us do take - Amitriptyline is a useful one.

Also - the way you are feeling could mean you need vit b12 injections. These will make you feel so much better. Just google vitb12 deficiency ms - Vitamin B12 gets overlooked - and pwms all seem to need a high level.

Now - l do not want to sound like a ‘drug pusher’ - but l am a different person since taking LDN. lt makes me feel more upbeat -more alive -more positive- less fatigue - no brain fog - more able to cope with all the ghastly ms symptoms - and after suffering for many years- and it is suffering - l have not had Trigeminal Neuralgia since starting on ldn. And l am forever thankful to all on this site for telling me about LDN. ln the 5yrs that l have taken it l have certainly not progressed.

I think perhaps you are letting your emotions influence your judgement. A shift change from 7:30 -3:30 to 8:15 - 5:15 is an hour different in quantity but at 9 hours, you get 1:30 worth of breaks. So I’m guessing apart from starting and finishing later, you won’t actually be working longer, unless you already get 1:30 worth of breaks I suppose.

An 8 hour shift typicaly only allowed you two 15 minute breaks but once you hit 9 hours you’re entitled to a lunch break aswell as those. At least that was how most businesses opperated when I was working.

You feel like shit and you are upset about it, there is nothing wrong with that, take the time you need to level out the dip in your emotions, get support from your friends and your GP. Focus on improving your day to day activity, excercise, entertainment, house work, whatever you do that isn’t sitting around feeling rubbish will help.

If you show willing to work with your employer, you have a much stronger case to argue if you are physicaly incapable while working and they see it. Remember MS is invisible, you can’t convince people of your limitations, you have to demonstrate it…think of them like children, pictures mean more than words.

Or, consider seeking alternative employment, if you are capable of work, you are capable of working elsewhere, don’t be the victim, looking for a new job is daunting but it can also be a considerably rewarding experience and change of scene.

Hope you feel flippin fantastic soon!
