Hi all, is this a common complaint? I am drinking plenty of water but am not passing it.
Thanks Rosie x

Hi Rosie
Have you got a continence nurse, or a bowel and bladder nurse? They can advise you about various techniques you can try to start the flow. Otherwise, and if it’s a long term problem (rather than a short term relapse issue that may remit) you may have to think about intermittent self catheterisation (ISC). But speak to a continence nurse first, if necessary get your MS nurse or GP to refer you.

Thanks Sue, I don’t have either of those, maybe a trip to the Dr in the morning if I still can’t go x
Hi, it must feel very uncomfortable when you cant pee. My problem has been the opposite…keeping my pee in!
I used to have hourly urgency…both day and night and it was horrendous…wee waterfalls all over the place.
I now have an spc and it is usualy fine. But this last week I have wet myself and feel like i am gonna do it and by pass the catheter.
Innit a chuffin pain…wee and poo problems for many members of this forum.
As Sue says a continence nurse will help, but yeh, go to the docs tomorrow.
Good luck.

Its very dangerous not being able to pass urine, you should go to a & e if you havent been to pee all day.
I’m with Mrs J on this one. It can cause serious continence problems if you overstretch your bladder because you can’t pee. You need to get to A&E or to an out of hours doctor. Get them to catheterise you.
Thanks. I have managed to go a bit, but have pain in my groin?
I hadn’t really thought this right through, if you literally cannot pee at all today then you need to either figure out a way to go or as Sewing Chick and MrsJ have said, go to A&E.
So, some ways to try and start your wee going:
First, try raising your feet up so your knees are higher, so get a small box/crate/step/washing up bowl under your feet as you sit on the loo.
Try bending forward and rock back & forth.
Try pushing on your stomach in the bladder area, again on & off.
Theres a small device you can get that vibrates which is designed to help you start weeing, the idea is that you hold it over your lower bladder area as it vibrates, it can start you off. So, my thinking is that if you have such a small battery operate vibrating object (uhum, if you know what I mean!), try that out, it will do exactly the same as the object that is designed for such a purpose.
Sometimes, pushing a finger or two into your vagina, and pushing against your bladder from the inside can start you off. Or indeed, a (preferably lubricated) finger into the anus can do it.
Finally, there’s always the turn a tap on at a trickle rate trick.
Hopefully, one of these will work, otherwise, if you are literally not weeing at all, get yourself to A&E. I wouldn’t waste time phoned 111, they’re crap at things like this. If you don’t fit an exact ‘normal’ part of their script, then they won’t have a clue.
Sue
Thanks
I have managed to go but not full flow. A bit concerned as I have pain in my groin. Not sure if this is related x
l think you should go to a&e - they will ultra-sound scan your bladder and see what is going on. Sooner the better.
See how it goes, if the pain gets worse, or if your weeing problem continues or gets worse, then see your GP tomorrow. Or of course if it gets a lot worse, the hospital.
