bus adventures!

hiya

on saturday the bus i was on broke down after 10 mins into the journey. it took almost 2 hours to get rescued. (i am powerchair user so getting a lift aint easy!) driver was brill-the passengers that were left-6 of us-had a very interesting local history lesson thanks to his knowledge!

today i planned to visit my friend 2 miles away so got the bus up (same route as sat!) and planned to chair it all the way back.

bus arrived, boarded, all good. law says i need to travel backwards so i didnt know when to press buzzer, too early but he had remembered where i was going. arrived at road end-no pavement so i went from bus onto road (which i have done before due to car drivers parking in bus stops, gggrrr!)

lovely lunch with friend and then back home on chair. i was almost home before the 1st green light went to to indicate charge left in battery.

this is the first time i have attempted this. due to its success i will be doing it again mainly because the mental benefits of being independent are unmeasurable!

have a happy evening all!

Sounds fun.

My scooter batteries kept running out. New one fitted, feel a lot more confident going out now.

How about you take the charger with you when you go visiting a friend (if its not to big) then while your talking plug it in and give the battery a quick boost, then you can be sure of getting home safely.

Good that the bus driver was friendly and even though the bus broke down the time spent on the bus wasnt wasted.

Enjoy the time visiting your friends, yes its difficult travelling backwards i,m a always afraid of missing my stop especialy if it dark, i sometimes have to ask someone where we are just to be sure of not missing it .

hey thanks all!

barbara-have had my powerchair 3 1/2 years now and it has taken that time to build my confidence up!

i recently bought a larger bag that fits on the back of chair for that very reason-to take my charger with me!

thats why i got the bus up-i knew the charge wouldnt last both ways! but i was confident i would manage one way.
