Hi all. After if anyone has similar experience please or can share any knowledge. Standard MRI showed brain changes in 3 areas of brain which suggested MS. MRI repeated with contrast and brain MRI again showed multiple changes in the brain consistent with MS but cervical spine was clear. MRI showed no enhancing lesions, suggesting no active lesions. Awaiting appointment with my neurologist to explain what this means as I really have no idea! Any thoughts or help would be most appreciated. Thank you
Any lesions could be attributable to MS. Just because none have appeared in your spine doesn’t make it any less an MS diagnosis. Suggestion also is that the without-then-with MRI’s were close together, so no time for progression. Neuro’s prefer to make the MS call after the “with” scan.
The next scan in 3-6 months will be the one which determines progression or not.
See also: NEIDA and smouldering MS. Symptoms can worsen whilst no apparent lesion changes.

Well, those MRI results suggest that there is something going on that demands an explanation, but you know that already. I’m afraid it’s one for your doctor to give a view on.
Thank you for the information. I will look at these. Finding everything a bit of a minefield at the minute. Neurologist seems to provide conflicting information. Seems to tell me I do and don’t have MS in the same letter. Very confusing but hopefully more will become clear at my next appointment.
