Bored

I’m bored, really, really bored. I’m used to my own company. I don’t mind being alone, but I do find it hard that I can’t do anything useful with this “free” time. There’s gardening needs doing, drawers need tidying, I need to pack for the weekend (we’re going away for a couple of nights) and I can’t do any of it. Getting out of my seat and lurching to the loo and back is as much as I can manage. I’m bored, bored, bored. Whinge over xx

hi flowerpot i understand right were your at i have things to do but just cant seem to muster the energy and one day blends into another BORING!!!

Hi, is it hobbies you are looking for, or jobs around the house need doing?

If it is the former, here are few things that I took up following retirement on ill health grounds;

card making, short story writing, sewing, rag doll making, reading, would any of these interest you?

If it is the latter, there is a handyman service offered by our council, They charge £10 a hour.

Does your council offer a similar service?

Hi Flowerpot

I’ve just started a course on futurelearn.com. There’s all kinds of courses on lots of subjects, and most of them are done in association with universities around the world. You do them online, with a mix of videos & articles, and forums where you can discuss what you’ve learnt with other people. The courses have different lengths, and different recommendations for the how much to spend on it each week. The one I’m doing is through the University of Auckland, and is 8 weeks long, with a recommended 4 hours a week. I’m only on the first week, and I wasn’t sure what I’d think of it, but I’m really enjoying it (it’s about logical & critical thinking, which is very handy to apply to the arguments in the EU referendum!). I’ll definitely do more after this one finishes.

(P.S Is it worth considering getting a wheelchair for occasional use? I know there can be an emotional resistance to using them, but when I did it gave me so much more freedom.)
