Back of knee pain and restless legs / Symptom tracker

Hi folks,

I was diagnosed with RRMS in September 2025, and started Kesimpta in December 2025.

I haven’t had any major symptoms such as numb limbs, vision loss etc, but since a bit before Christmas I haven’t had aching in the backs of my knees. It started off happening mostly at night be I’m noticing it more in the day time too. Paracetamol doesn’t really do a great deal.

I wondered if anyone else had had this kind of pain?

I saw a physio early in January and he seemed to think the pain might be MS related as he couldn’t see anything wrong with my knees and I haven’t had any injuries or anything. He gave me some exercises for generaL strengthening. In all honesty I haven’t done them. I keep meaning to. He didn’t sound overly confident they would help, but might rule out that the pain was muscular.

I am also noticing that I get restless legs at night, which has been going on for longer, a number of months maybe. I really need to start tracking symptoms i think! If anyone can recommend a symptom tracker I would be very grateful.

My GP has been pretty useless. I am wondering whether to contact my MS nurse but don’t want to waste her time.

I have noticed too that I am more tired than normal the last week or so. Ugh. I don’t know if that’s due to MS or because I had my second shingles jab last week, or because I’m stressed.

Sorry for moaning such a lot :slightly_frowning_face:

It would be helpful to hear if anyone else has back of the knees aches and restless legs and if anything helped with it.

Thank you in advance for any responses. I’m not usually this fed up and negative

Morning Alison,
I was taking kesimpta October 2024 till September 2025, and then changed DMT due too side effects I’m experiencing. Go back to February 2025, I started experiencing spasticity in both legs from the waist down. My right knee very difficult to bend, pain going up into the hamstring and the glutes. Also noted weakness as the day wore on going up stairs. I was seen by physio, then the tone clinic and it was noted I have a definite weakness in both legs. Once I was eventually seen by a neuro physio who recommended some daily stretches this has helped. I was on gabapentin, but it caused loads of issues and now taking sativex which really does help with the constant spasms in my legs.
I have to say my GP is useless but I’ve had to fight to get appropriate help.
I hope you get some relief, and I would definitely contact your ms nurses as they can also consult with your neurologist.
Don’t apologise, being in pain all the time is horrible to deal with, and we all have a breaking point!
Take care.

Taking magnesium glycinate sorted my problem with restless legs and is a beneficial mineral, so no harm in trying.

Thank you both, it’s good to hear your experiences and suggestions

It’s also good to hear that I should contact the MS nurse. I would be quick to tell someone else that it’s ok, but seem to struggle taking my own advice! And I’m still pretty new to having MS, so none of this is familiar.

Thank you x
