Hello everyone and Happy New Year!I have been called for a face to face assement.I was contacted last year but was unable to go as I was in hospital receiving Lemtrada.I was actually told that they wouldn’t need to see me again. The last face to face I had was about four years ago.I was wondering if anyone had had one recently,if they’ve changed at all or are as still as terrifying as ever!Any advise/experience would be hugely appreciated, thanks!
Hi Bambi. I recently transferred from 20 years on DLA to PIP. I managed to get a home based f2f, but I hear they are hard to get. I requested it on my application form and was surprised to get it. I was a bag of nerves, like most of us going through it. My appointment was cancelled twice and that was very upsetting. The woman, who was a nurse in complex care needs, was very nice…efficient but no small talk. I had my daughter with me, who is an advocate for benefit rights. She made notes and a few comments. She also filled in my claim form. The assessor just asked questions, asked me to do a few simple things like squeezing her hands etc. I am a full time wheelchair user, so she didn’t ask me to walk! I waited 3 weeks for the result and luckily I got enhanced on both parts…but there were 2 inaccuracies in her report…but I didn’t need to challenge it thankfully. Hope your`s goes well for you xx
Hi Bambi,
Will start my PIP renewal forms inn March. Already writing notes.
F2F was in 2017. Take copies of your form and a friend who has read your form and can add comments or prompt you. Nerves can make you forget details. Tell them worst case and remember they observe you from the moment they see you. My nice assessor noted I needed 2 attempts and the arm rests to get out of the chair in the waiting room!!
Hope it goes well.

Thank you both so much for your replies, strangely I didn’t get a notification so have only just seen them.it’s all very daunting, assessment is tomorrow - it’s now 11.56 and I’m wide awake with nerves. My Mum is coming with me to help and be a supportive presence.Must remember the only answer the questions asked and not witter on from nerves!!Keep fingers crossed please guys!!
How did it go? They dont give you a clue as to how it went for them.
Reports can be obtained a week or so after the meeting, but I didnt ask for mine. I dont see the point in getting it, as you still have to wait for the official result. You will have time to prepare for an MR, if you dont get the award you expect.

She was completely impassive and impossibly to read so I honestly have no idea how it went! She just went through the form that I’d filled out and I confirmed the information, she logged all my meds which I’d brought with me.She didn’t do a physical examination and it was all pretty quick…is this good?!Is this bad?!Who knows!I have a bad cold right now which is making me feel grotty and look even worse so she didn’t see a good day which I guess is a positive.Thank you for checking in!
They are trained to detach themselves from emotion or to let you know what really going on…
Hi Bambi. Hope the assessment was ok! I was assessed in 2016 and I was really nervous. The woman who assessed me came to my house. She was lovely and I wasn’t asked to do any tasks. I have got my next assessment in 18 months time and I am hoping my next assessment goes as smoothly as the last one.
That’s great you had such a positive experience, hoping you won’t be as nervous for your next one!Hope it all goes well for you!
Hi Bambi. Thank you. I don’t think I will be nervous next time because I will know what to expect.
there`s no way I could do that job…just saying
