Hi I’m Chrissie. I have no idea if my symptoms are MS or just old age (76). I don’t know whether to go to GP as about 2 or 3 years ago I mentioned concern and she told me “not to go down that route”. I have quite a lot of joint/muscle pain which I assumed is Fibromyalgia. I don’t seem to have as much control over my hands as I used to. I sometimes get tingling along the upperfront of both legs. My balance is awful but it has been since I had chemo for bowel cancer. I sometimes have what could be the MS hug. I cannot walk far without wondering if I will make the last bit. I have tinnitus. I sometimes find I have been sitting on the loo for ages - not feeling as if I have the energy to get up and feeling as if I have been in a dream. Sorry to go on!! Chrissie
Hi Chrissie
Sorry to hear you’re going through quite a bit right now. Definitely go see the GP, something is causing the balance, ‘hug’ etc. and your GP should be looking into what might be causing the issues - getting your B12 levels checked (blood test) would be a good starting point as low B12 can cause many of the symptoms you describe - both my Father and Husband had very low B12, a course of injections done at the surgery sorted (most) of their issues out over a matter of a few weeks; Dad had to have regular B12 injections (2 or 3 a year if memory serves) and Husband’s B12 has remained good since they brought his levels back up.
Other than his/ her comment about MS, what has your GP said about your symptoms?
You mention fibromyalgia- would I be right in assuming that you have a diagnosis for that?
The fact that you are wondering aloud suggests to me that you’re ready to take the plunge and find out what the matter is.
It might be a long haul, but the longest road is the one not started, so maybe it’s time to get started. If you’re like me, you’ll start instantly to feel bit better once you do.
Thank you for replying. I have started topping up with B12. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 20 years ago. The flare ups eased when I left a stressful and became self employed working from home. I have quite a high pain threshhold and have always been able to blot out most pain. Will log on with doctor in near future. Thank you for your time.
