apptment with Neurologist next week!!!

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing ok.

I have an appointment with my Neuro next week and i am a bit worried!! I have had problems for nearly 3 years now and have been having new symptoms the last 4 months, sensory things, pin and needles, itchy and hot patches on my back and thigh. i have also been having more problems with my bladder and lots of infections, so having to catheritise more, than usual( usually once before i go to bed). My GP is great and very supportive and i asked him if i should ask for another brain scan, last one was april 2009!! he said that would be fine and i am quite within my right to ask, but my neurologist keeps telling me she thinks my condition is functional and i dont need a scan!! how shall i go about asking her for a scan and explaining why i would like one. i know she will probably say no. any ideas???

I honestly don’t know the answer to this one, but if logic fails (it’s been 2.5 years and I have new symptoms), you could always suggest that if this scan is clear it will be much easier for you to accept the functional diagnosis and therefore get on the path to getting better. Worth a try maybe?

You never know, she might suggest it without you having to ask.
