Age of DX and Type of MS

Hi Sonia Dx’d age 39 with RRMS x

Hi there Dx at 27 with rrms. Hope everyone is well! Kx

I was diagnosed earlier this year with RRMS and I’ll be 50 in November. I’d been having clear symptoms for about 18 months before that but I’ve been clumsy and off balance for many years before that.

Eventually dx in 2011 age 51 with RRMS (originally I was told I’d had a stroke).

One year on, and taking Tysabri for 6 months, no further relapses, but no improvement to my balance, although my speech varies day to day.

My next neuro appt is in a fortnight, so will find out if it’s still RRMS or something else!

Diagnosed 3 days after my 40th b’day - kinda makes me wish that I’d tried harder to die young.

Never seen my notes, nor asked anyone, so I don’t know what type I have - if it’s RR, I am still awaiting my first remission.

RRMS at 43 but ‘go away and hope for the best’

Hi

I was 49 and went straight to dx of SPMS - having been told repeatedly there was nothing wrong when I kept visiting the doctor with symptoms going back several years. Am now 56. Yvonne

49 years old diagnosed with RRMS. that was in the year 2000, so had that label for 12 years. Quite a few weird symptoms for 15 years previously. Im still RRMS if that helps, not everyone goes into SPMS after 15/20 years or so.

WOW what a response, i’m guessing i could either be rrms or spms from the responses. Had on off

problems for a good few years but maybe some of them were my blood disorder? We will see eh!

Roll on the 16th October, i would love an answer but won’t hold my breath lol

Thanks all Sonia x

Sonia, thanks for starting such an interesting thread…it’s something that I’ve been wondering myself.

I think you get to the point where you kinda know the diagnosis is coming, but it definitely seems to be a wait and see.

All ther best on the 16th xx

RRMS aged 38, Only diagnosed in June so new to this. Really interesting to see people’s replies though.

Yes, a good thread and hope you all (like me) have registered with the MS Register? Good for statistical reasons if nothing else!

Good luck for the 16th!
