advice please

Hi, just wanting some advice. I suspect I’m having a relapse. I have no ms nurse to ask and my dr always says she is not an ms specialist. I’m currently experiencing stiffness in my right leg, (calf muscle tight, heel pain, back of knee and hip hurt and thigh hurts) right arm is painful, previously I’ve had heel pain and calf tight but this had eased. At its worst last year I was just walking around furniture but I’d got up to walking a couple of miles, (very slowly, overtaken by snails) don’t want to get worse. I take pregabalin. I am finding I can’t tel the time. (I could before) and lots of wrong words. I am seeing my dr on wed. Neuro appointment is due this month(6 month review) but I have no appointment.have a feeling my dr will say could be ms and I won’t get any further. What do I ask? Thanks Lynn

Hi Lynn,

Sorry that things are difficult for you at present

I suspect that only your Neuro could say whether or not this is a relapse. If I were you, I’d phone the Neuro’s secretary as soon as possible and try to get an appointment without delay.

(I have SPMS and have reviews with my Neuro every 12 months, but he’s assured me that I could make appointments whenever I need to see him!!)

Best of luck and I’m sure that others will be able to offer additional advice!

Hi Lynn, You have my sympathy with the stiff leg thing, mines the left and is often in full spasm. I’m upping my Baclofen to see if this helps. When I’ve felt I’m in relapse and no imminent Neuro appointment, I’ve rung my Neuro’s secretary to ask for appt to be brought forward. I hope you get sorted soon Sara x

Hi, I hate medical appointments. Drs dentist etc. I always feel like I’m wasting their time. Last year I had heel pain. It took months of harrassing any doctor I could and was told it could be ms, just sore, get some insoles and use a stick. I eventually saw my neuro who said it is not a new symptom, maybe a change but did an mri any how, then I got a letter saying I had ms and to be reviewed in 6 months. I feel I’ll be told it’s one of those things. I love my neuros optimism but some times I feel like I am wasting her time.

The other thing i wonder about is I have been told I have ms but not the tyoe. I had a first definite episode then gradually the ms hug went but other symptoms stayed. Then I’ve had a gradual deterioration , no sudden onset . I would like to know should I ask about dmd or anything to try and slow this disease up? Lynn
