advice on if to go to hosp?

Hi all,

I’m undiagnosed and after a year of Neuro appointments, now awaiting an appointment to see an ms specialist.

Currently I think I’m in my third relapse (? If it is ms) since Dec 2012. Anyway over the last week my legs have been getting more and more sluggish. Today I’m at the point of shuffling very very slowly. My legs feel stiff and like a weight is attached to each one. My right foot in particular is bad. I am also dizzy and having a lot of sensory issues.

Thing is my walking is so bad I’m almost at a point of not being able to move. I have had this last summer, it lasted 2 and a half months. I was on baclofen which helped a big. However I had faith in my Neuro so was happy with that. Now I’m left with nothing, do I go to gp and get more baclofen and struggle with no sticks etc like last year, or do I go to the hospital and ask for steroids in the hope Itll speed up recovery, and also help me to be seen. Don’t get me wrong I work at the hospital and am the first one to complain when resources are scarce but I don’t know what to do. I can’t do this again with no help. I have a toddler and older child to look after, plus work, and there is little chance to sit.

Has anyone had experience of going to the hospital for treatment?

Thanks

Kelly

Hi Kelly I have only attended the hospital twice for treatment but the first time I didn’t know anything about MS or suspect it. I went to A&E as it was an emergency to me that I suddenly lost the feeling in my feet. Now that I know I have MS I either contact my G.P as they are able to prescribe oral steriods or call my ms nurse. If you are still feeling the same tomorrow I would give your G.P a call and seek their advice they may give you some treatments or refer you to the hospital as that’s what happened me the second time as my G.P didn’t believe oral steriods would be strong enough as I had full body tremors and she was quite concerned. Hope you feel better soon, take care. Polly x
