advice/again

Hello to everyone and I hope you all are as well as can be.
Another wee query…sorry.
Having been in hospital at New year for a week due to flu and a MS flare up, I don’t seem to be getting much better. Don’t get me wrong I am in no way as I was back then but my walking (dragging my leg) has gotten so much worse and balance or should I say lack of balance is terrible resulting in lots of falls.
The ms nurse said the influenza a is taking a long time for people without other ailments to recover from but it is now 9 weeks.
Should I contact them again.
Sorry for another rant.
Much love

I am really sorry to hear that you’re struggling, Mary. I think you need to keep at them to see what can be offered to help keep you safe - falls are such a hazard for us. Are you under the care of a physio, for instance? I was about to consult one about a programme of strengthening that might help me stay upright, but the day before the appointment I fell over and busted my knee, so the agenda was rapidly changed… The knee’s very much better now, but I’m very sensitised to the risk of falling, so I really feel for you.

Thank you so much for your very helpful advice again.
I follow the physio’s exercises that she set for me and am trying my very best to get a bit stronger.
The MS team say it will take time but I am now convincing myself that maybe I have slipped to spms although my neurologist was happy that the MRI was stable.
I am a devil for overthinking so I am trying to stop this,
Sorry to hear about your fall. Glad your knee is on the mend. Mind yourself,
Much love

Hi marymcdermott, I’m really sorry you’re suffering like this, February 2024 I was in hospital for a week with Double pneumonia, really floored me and I’m sorry to say it has taken me just about a year to get over it and it’s left some new symptoms behind. I remember speaking with my MS about 6mths after I came out and she said sadly it always takes us longer to recover, now I really hope you do better than me. Good look and look after yourself, please don’t try and push against it, I did and it didn’t help one bit.

Jean. thank you so much for your very kind and helpful reply, you guys are so caring and helpful.
I am sorry that it took so long for you to recover leaving some new symptoms but selfishly on my part it makes me feel that I may well get a bit stronger and if this is the “new me” I will adapt to that as best as I can.
It truly is the gift that keeps on giving this MS.
I hope you are as well as can be. Take good care of yourself.
Much love

And you Mary. I’m off to the hospital today for Botox injections into my Bladder, I have them every 5mths, have done now for about 8yrs, not looking forward to it, as I’m already really tired, but hey I have it to do.
Once again, take good care and yes chin up.
Love Jean x

Good luck at the hospitalxx

So many people have some sort of a cold or sniffles these days Mary. I was just over a cold and seem to have caught another 1 again. Doctors said that it takes longer to shift it in healthy people and it seems to linger for weeks. My leg is dragging like yours too since I got this cold. I avoided the flu so far this year. It will pass so take it easy and do a little bit of exercise

Jimmy.
Thank you so much for your kind reply. The colds/flu and various viruses are really taking their toll on people.
As selfish as it sounds I truly am glad to hear its not just me with lingering symptoms (wish nobody had them though).
Take care, we will get there.
Much love
