A new comment has been posted!!

l can’t be the only one who keeps getting these alerts. The ones that start with a 6 or 7 are OK - but the ones that start with a 3 - are ‘Page not found’. Seem to get so many of them. Curious to know exactly what they are - and why we get them.

Hi

Have a look at your homepage. In the ‘preferences’ section you can specify whether you get notifications on new posts to threads you’ve participated in.

Sue - l like receiving the notifications of threads that l have participated in - which seem to be the ones starting with a 6 or 7 - but its the ones starting with a 3 that come up as ‘page not found’ - l just want to know why l get them.

Hi all,

You will receive notifications every time there is a response to a forum thread you are participating in.

As Sue mentioned, you can switch off all forum notifications in your preferences (they can be annoying).

The page not found error some of you have experienced is a glitch with the forum. This only seems to happen when a reply is posted rather than a new post. The link sent in the notification email does not always work. It is a problem we have been looking into, apologies for the inconvenience.

Many thanks,

Hi

When people reply to the main post by typing into the box at the bottom of a thread, you’ll get a working link beginning with a 6 or 7. The problem is when people reply to a reply. You’ll see on everybody’s comments, there’s a Reply button. So if someone clicks on that instead, then the link will start with a 3.

When you scroll down all the replies in a thread, you can tell the difference between a reply to the main post, & a reply to a reply, by whether or not a comment is indented slightly to the right. And next to the time & date a comment was made, it will say (for example) ‘Reply to #2’.

So if you look at all the replies on this thread, spacejacket & Ssssue have both done this.

Hope that makes sense!

Dan
