Had abit of a spasm - mouth quivering over the last week and yesterday decided to go to bed early. Got up to go to loo a bit later and my mouth went like a stroke, I couldn’t talk properly for a few minutes, was on my own. I phoned my mum and tried to speak properly but couldn’t it was disterssing for me. So I phoned 999 and went to A&E. The ambulance crew thought it was a TIA as my blood pressure was 170 over something, i mentioend my MS. The consulant came to see me and I said I was recently diagnised with MS, she checked me over and my face was fine my then. She let me go home. I so hope that sensation never comes back again.
Gosh poor you and scary. IF you live on your own, I would get a care line hun.
As to what happened it sounds like your face got caught in a spasm. Its good you had it checked though hun. The high blood pressure could have been stress. HOWEVER, I would see your GP and have your blood pressure monitored just in case. If your a young person 170 is quite high.
Like i said if your on your own you can get a careline so you can contact someone immediately even if you cant use your phone. I have one i always wear it when i am on my own.
Oh another thing hun, have you been over doing it this last week with christmas that can cause extra fatigue and spasms.x
Thanks, I was getting stressed because of the spasm itself, concerned it ws going to be a new permenant thing. I’m 39, yes 170 is the highest i’ve know it to be. The abulance crew kept retaking a reading as they said surely that high reading can’t be right. When i got to A and E it was about 162. Its odd as when i had my CIS I was convinced it could be stroke due to stress but no it was demyelination.
this has happened to me several times. last time was on christmas day! i know how scary it is but also now understand its part of my ms-still scary but understand whats happening now so dont panic. in fact my kids realized what was happening again and tried to guess what i was trying to say! that helped as they were making up what they wanted me to say! humour is not right for everyone but thats how we muddle through this ms malarkey!
i too get this, but like ellie,i dont panic now,but when it first happens its scary, but hope you dont have to get used to it cos its not nice,as you know, infact i dont panic about a lot of the things that happen, these days,i randomly get all sorts of weird things happen, like suddenly not able to speak,or my arm will just hang, like an elephants trunk for a while, then suddenly goes back to normal.
