Hi Carole,
I don’t think you’re being silly - I would be scared too if this happened.
You need to see the doctor first thing tomorrow (er…this morning). Tell them you need an emergency appointment. Or failing that, present at A&E. I don’t know what the long-term solution is, but I’m sure they’ll get you sorted with the immediate problem, and make plans what else to do.
Please don’t leave this - you need medical help with it.
I haven’t had bladder problems YET, but many people with MS do, and judging by the posts on here, most find a way to manage it successfully.
I’m saying today, because you can’t leave this all the way 'til Monday - another three days. A week of suffering it in case it gets better by itself is already too long.
Love,
Tina
Who is also up all night, not because of bladder problems, but delightful cramp.
Carole please don’t worry - you won’t be left high and dry with such a problem!. You will be sorted out today for the short term problem! Hopefully, the nurse will enable you to do ISC effectively by the time she leaves you, so that you’re not in this situation again. Let us know how you get on. Teresa xx
Hi Carole sorry to see you are still suffering, you must get this sorted today. Take care and good luck. Karen x
Hi Carole, have you got it sorted now? i do hope so. it must be soooo painful.
luv Pollx
hi everyone
my continence nurse catheterised me and i finally got an empty bladder.
i’m confident that i can self cath now.
its a bit of a palaver though isnt it?

Hi Carole, glad your sorted at last, I am sure you will get used to the SC . Karen x
Hi Carole,
I thought/hoped that’s what they’d do. Did they also sort out why you’ve been having problems, so you’re more confident doing it yourself now? No details required, obviously. Just wondered if you’ve been left in a position where it’s sorted out now.

I’m so glad she sorted you out Carole - I was squirming in sympathy! I hope the self-catheterisation is working OK now! Teresa xx
well i thought i’d be able to manage but i tried today and couldnt find the urethra - it would be helpful if it was luminous or something! and its in such an awkward place you need to be a contortionist to do it.
anyway i’ll try again tomorrow and if no luck i’ll see if the nurse at my gp surgery can help on monday.
but at least i had my bladder emptied on friday so its not been in there for long.
it makes me squeamish thinking of it like a pool of stagnant water!
i see the bladder nurse again on the 28th and i want to be able to tell her that i can do it.

What type of catheters are you using. I found some to be too ‘floppy’ with not a good hand hold so I changed to a different one and it made ISC much easier.
Dear Carole,I can see how your situation is a worry.Something that works for me (my situation isn’t as advanced as yours)is to gently play warm air from a hair drier onto the area where the plumbing is situated.I sometimes use a plastic pot sitting on the edge of the bed.My ‘wee delivery system’ (read that as you will) is easier to use than yours, when away from the porcelain.
School boy physics/biology says the warmth dilates the tubing and gravity gets a chance. If you decide to 'ave a go and run an extension into the bog area, for the love of Pete me mindful that there is a good reason why there are no sockets in bathrooms
Good luck,
Wb x
Wobbly Boy you must have the curliest pubes on the planet!
