Which of these wheelchairs is best for an active user (25 years old)

Hi,

Ive been using a foldable wheelchair provided by the local NHS wheelchair service

While its okay its very awkward/heavy getting it in and out of my car and i tried a rigid chair which is so much quicker and easier to wheel around outside

So before i commit and buy a new chair could someone point out which is the superior chair brand/model on this site please:

https://www.simplyhealth.co.uk/sh/pages/independent-living/products/manual-wheelchairs.jsp

I undeerstand there would be other brands but i have no idea what to look for

Is a rigid chair best for ease in wheeling and the lightest weight getting it in/out of the car?

I didnt realise wheelchairs would cost £2,000 +, Does anyone know who sells wheelchairs at the most competitive/cheapest price?

thanks

hi Neil, what model Kuschall is this one?

does anyone else have sugesstions for a chair that suits my needs?

Hi Take a look here they appear to be a lot cheaper than the site your looking at and ai believe your vat exempt if you have a disability BOMSLOT: 10 Daftar Situs Slot Online Terpercaya di Indonesia Cheers

IF youare contemplating getting a wheelchair and don’t ant to use the NHS ine you have them I’m afraud it is gonna cost a bit. A Quikie Neon could be the one you for as they are very good and the NHS rate them quite hightly. Out of the ones that you have listed the Quickie Helium weighs in at 6kg including the wheels but it can be had cheaper than the £2k that they are asking for it.

It all depoends what you want out of a wheelchair I am looking at getting one that collapses down, it isn’t the lighteset of wheelchairs but when it is folded down (not including the wheels) it is small enough to fit in the over head locker on a plane. and they should be free of VAT as well. Google wheelchair warehouse and look at their prices, they are independent retailer that are very good.

Hi

I use a kuschall self propel. It cost £1400 six years ago but is still as good as new.

It weighs 6kg & folds up with detactable wheels.

It is easy to lift in / out of the car and set up.

I have taken it everywhere, including abroad without any problems.

I am a very active self-propeller and the only limitation is that I cant use it off road too easily.

I have recently used a mountain trike for offroad which is absolutely brilliant but very expensive.

all the best

Neil

You need a referral with wheelchair services (from your GP) They can only prescribe the heavy lumbering wheelchairs but you can opt for a voucher to put towards a more expensive model of your choice. I don’t know how much they give but every little helps.

Meant kuschall ultralight. Blinkin predictive text Neil

The kushall ultraliht is good but im after a rigid chair, due to their lightness and small size + they meant to be easier/smoother to propel

so besides the helium & kushal rigids, what other brand/model rigid chairs are small and light with good/easy self-propelling?

does anyone have a different rigid chair?

Hi!

I’m a 35 year old woman, and nowhere near ready to be stuck in an uncomfortable, heavy NHS chair, and need to be pushed about, however, if my mobility continues to decline as quickly as it is, I was looking at one of these…

I pimped my crutches, so have one for every occasion, because if I have to use them, I want to make sure they look good!

Good luck hunting for you’re new set of wheels
