What do you think?

Hi I was diagnosed with RRMS in 2012 and was put on copaxone straight away.Last Dec the MRI showed no clinical change.I however feel there is tiny symptoms everyday.I feel I m a bit worse every day.The neuro and ms nurses say that I don t have secondary progressive ms but I don t believe them.what do you guys reckon? Thanks so much,Lady Bubblegumx

Hello LBG.

Who’s in your body? Only you know the subtlety of change. Even with the best will in the world neurologists and their x rays cannot see or find evidence of gradual change. In the world of car mechanics we have gone from engineers scratching their heads trying to find the cause of an intermittent engine misfire to plug in self-diagnostic systems. I think in the case of MS neurology is still at the scratching head stage.

Is it possible to get a second opinion? I think your neuro will understand if you ask for one because he or she will be well aware of things they can or cannot see. They are also probably used to patients describing symptoms they are yet to see evidence of. Can you be specific with them about the details of your progression such as how high you can lift your hands above your head? That’s probably not the best example but you know what I mean. I am assuming your doctors are approachable and not dismissive of course.

Best wishes, Steve

Thankyou for that, I m seeing him this week.I only see my neuro once a year.I ll try that.I wish they d find a cure soon. Here s hoping.x
