Ive read a few posts on here about employment, when I was first diagnosed back in the early 90s I was told that if I applied for any jobs that I HAD to disclose that I have MS, have laws been changed since? I avoided diagnosis for 2 years back then because I believed that it would give employers yet another excuse to turn me down for jobs! (Unskilled clerical jobs) I get that life has changed but normally things only get more difficult for peeons like me, if laws have been changed hopefully it will work to the advantage of MSers, although it’s far to late for me.
I have no idea about it I was always self employed .

I am by no means a legal eagle, but i think that for as long as your health doesn’t impact upon your ability to perform your role, then an employer has no expectation for ‘full disclosure’.
Ultimately, we’re entitled to a far greater level privacy now than a decade or two ago, for the very prejudices you fear you might be victimised to.
I continue to operate on a ‘need to know’ basis when it comes to sharing news of my diagnosis.
All the best.
I think if they ask as part of the application process then you have to tell them but if they don’t ask you don’t have to. Also if they ask there is a bit where you tell them how it impacts your ability to work so you can put that it doesn’t really if it doesn’t have much of an effect on your work. I always just put that I have to have extra Dr’s appointments because that is it’s biggest effect on my work. I’m able to deal with the other stuff so that I’m still able to do my job.
Hope that helps.
I don’t say. Never been asked. First manager knew and not a problem (nr dx), next job went south after I said, so now i don’t
Hi Dolly,
As far as I know. When applying for jobs they should have an HR section as part of the application form where it will probably ask if you’re disabled. But this information should not go to the interview panel - in theory.
good luck
