waking up in the night

Hello

I have been wakingup in the middle of the night wanting to have a pee. This all started about 5 or 6 months ago. By the time I have stumbled into the bathroom and self catheterised myself I am wide awake. It then takes me anything up to an hour to get back to sleep?

Do these any of these problems happen to anyone else and have they found a way round the problem?

Hi Patrick,

Your GP will prescribe pills to stop going at night. Only problem is it can stop you going during the morning.

If you do not want drugs you can fit a convene (it’s like a condom that you can attach a urine bag to) at night which is not intrusive. The only problem is it may make your brain think you can go during the day making your sphincter not work properly.

This is only my assumptions; I would recommend you speak to a continence nurse via your GP.

Good luck

George

Haven’t found a way round the problem, just turned it into a reading and cup of tea opportunity instead. I read for an hour, take some pain killers if needed then drop off usually about an hour later. Doesn’t happen every night. Sometimes I have a wander round the garden and look at the stars and listen to the silence (and yes the kids think I’m potty). The night waking wasn’t going away so I thought I’de stock up on some extra books, sometimes I will do some mediation and deep breathing instead.

Hello,

My consultant recommended that I take Desmotabs. They have been a great success. Not only do I sleep through hte night, the issue of bladder control is much better. No nasty little accidents have happened since I started.the pills

Eventually I will be getting Botox, I’m on the waiting list. I have heard the these pills are taken after a Botox course of injections on the bladder

Cheers

Patrick
