I had a lumbar puncture 4 weeks ago and my appointment with the neurologist isnt until 19th Dec. Am I likely to get the lumbar puncture results before this appointment? Or will I have to wait until December?

I have my lumbar puncture on Thursday and I was worried this was going to happen 
…the waiting is excruciating!

@Squarecrisp thanks so much. Im a bit anxious about it as Ive heard very different stories but just want to get some definitive answers! Keep ringing the hospital and chasing your appointment and make sure you’re on their cancellation list. All the very best!
It really depends on your neurologist’s office and how they typically handle test results. Some neurologists prefer to go over the results with you in person, which could mean you’d have to wait until your December appointment to hear anything. However, if you reach out to the office and let them know you’re anxious about the results, they might be able to share them with you sooner, either through a phone call or by releasing them through an online patient portal if they use one.

Thank you for replying. Ive now been sent an appointment for a nurse led neurology clinic in November so hopefully they might be able to give me some answers.

Just thought I’d let you know I got my LP results by letter yesterday and they were clear! They’ve confirmed I don’t have MS and will just be seen at the clinic going forward. Its a weird feeling as I know I have multiple lesions on my brain, have permanent sight loss in my right eye from ON over 4 months ago and also have no feeling in my fingers or toes along with other niggly things. They reckon those small symptoms could be from the bad bout of ON but I worry about it happening in my other eye now!
Nothing to do now though but try to brush it under the carpet and get on with my life. I’ve already wasted 6 months stressing so time to put it to bed!

Glad you got your negative results, fab news. I totally get the feeling weird about it though as you still dont have any definitive answer or solution to your symptoms. I hope the eyes stay stable and you dont get any further bouts of the optic neuritis. I also hope your other symptoms start to settle.
I got my results today, the lumbar puncture and spine mri were both in keeping with ms so im just waiting for an appointment with the neurologist now and the results of the mog blood test. It hasnt really sunk in yet. But whatever results we get we just have to keep going dont we
