She’s great in so many aspects but maybe MS isn’t her boat, I’ll ask my MS nurse (now I’ve finally got one after all these years) not that I think it will make much difference now as I’ve been diagnosed 20 years this June
You can get a blood test done privately - some lab in Birmingham as I recall.
The late lamented (in forum terms) rizzo reported what amounted to an overdose of Vit D3 after taking 10,000iu daily, for about 3 months. She quit altogether and it took nearly as long to get back to a safe level.
I had one neurologist who did not believe in taking any vitamin supplements, and another who did. I played safe and asked my GP who also believed in D3 - so I take 2400iu daily (Healthy Origins from Amazon). This seems to be right for me - but that does not mean it would be right for anyone else. All you can be sure of is that regular blood tests are desirable if you do take D3 as a supplement.
Note that most authorities believe that you also need some magnesium to aid D3 absorbtion.
I agree with a lot of the comments here, it’s always get the blood test if you’re thinking of taking particularly high doses of D3.
I’ve been taking 1,000 - 2,000 units of D3 (as suggested by Neuro) and got it checked to see if I needed to look at a higher dose…er no, my levels are actually too high!
Hi, Just to put in my bit, I saw my ms nurse yesterday, dx in nov, she recommended I take the 5000 dose vit d (from amazon) I think was £11 for 360 caps. Best wishes, Sue x
It’s worth noting: I read in a study somewhere if your on beta interferon your Vitamin D absorbtion is greater than if your not on interferon. so what ever dose you decide to swallow get a blood test after 4 months etc and see where your at.
