Unsure what my MRI means, near thought MS not sure now.

Hey,

I’m new to the forum. I have neuro symptoms that have been progressively appearing and getting worse since I was 13, so for the last 15 years.

I recently started with bladder and bowel problems and was sent to a neuro who suspected either demylenating disease, spinal cord condition, or congenital.

I was send for an MRI and EMG/Nerve conduction, the EMG came back fine - so odd as I couldn’t even feel the needles. The MRI of head and spine is all seeming normal, the only thing it says is: " There are a couple of small deep white matter high T2 and FLAIR signal abnormalaties".

Im confused as to what this means, the Neuro has arranged a 6 month follow up to see if we need more tests after this time and that he thinks it maybe a congenital condition.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Charlotte

hi charlotte

there used to be a sticky by someone called rizzo who works in radiography.

unfortunately it is no longer there.

maybe your gp could explain it to you.

meanwhile you can address your bowel and bladder problems yourself.

contact your nearest bowel and bladder clinic and make an appointment - it is one of the rare services that you can self refer to.

there is absolutely no need to be embarrassed as the nurses there are wonderful.

good luck, it’s an awful thing to have at your young age

rizzo’s sticky is still there.

the 3rd one down on this page.

Hi Charlotte

You are quite young to have had possible MS or congenital symptoms for 15 years. But, there are no rules with MS, except those that exist it seems, simply to be broken.

It sounds like you’ve been left somewhat adrift. Being given an appointment in 6 months and meanwhile having to just worry and fret about what it all means seems unfair.

I wonder if you could write to the neurologist and ask him/her to explain what is meant. Or see your GP and ask them to find out what the neuro thinks really. Simply being told where you have some dodgy places in your brain doesn’t seem like something you want to live with for months if there’s any alternative.
