Three weeks ago I had my first symptom. Slight burning sensation on my forearms, later that evening my lower back went numb (Monday). Woke up the next morning with pins and needles in my legs and the numbness had spread from my lower back round to my stomach and down my legs to my knees (Tuesday). Then the next day the pins and needles started to affect my hands and feet (Wednesday) so I went to hospital. They done some tests but weren’t able to do much more due to waiting times for an MRI. So I went private as I was really concerned. After getting my results from my MRI it was clear from the Doctor something was wrong so I was referred to see a neurologist and the following Friday I was diagnosed and put on a five day course of steroids to help with the symptoms. I’ve been advised to start Tecfidra at the earliest possible opportunity. Has anyone else experienced this all happen so fast?
My formal dx took a few months, but it was pretty clear right from the start what the outcome was likely to be. I am sorry that you are having such a torrid time.
Sorry to hear the news,
I’d dismissed random mornings with pins n needles or numbness, then all of a sudden it was violent vertigo and hot/cold skin feelings, then a week later slurred speech and worsening stability.
Basically the severe feelings that would make me concerned came on VERY suddenly, it wasn’t a gradual thing.
That being said… the recovery has been steady, but it does feel like 5 steps forward + 4 steps back.
I’ve come to realise I cannot rush the process. Improvements need to be observed for a week before I’m confident in saying that it is what it is.
