Hi El

Have you been seen by a speech therapist?

No idea how that would happen in these covid times, however they know about swallowing.

Back in the days when I worked with Surestart we had a lot of children with disabilities and the Speech therapist was the best service for them re swallowing.

Hope you are alright. Have you got one of those alarms for emergences?

I hate to think of you being afraid.

much love C xx

as long as you are not getting stressed/afraid Ellie!

I am scared of baclofen as I nearly fell down the stairs when I first took them.

I have a pack on standby in case I get the abominable MS hug.

Keep safe El xx

I had this too for a while. It seems to have gone into remission for now. Very scary. Anee

Just a few things you could try that worked for me .

Rubbing on your Adam’s apple or just below , whilst having throat spasm.

Tilt your head back. Stretching your neck side to side up and down at same time as rubbing your throat gently. ( from outside, in the area that it is spasming). Allso try twist your headband neck in different ways. The same way we all rub our calf muscles when we get leg cramps…this technique worked well on my neck.

Taking peppermint oil , pastilles or tablets , they can relax your throat muscles.

Yes like others have said…speech therapists can do wonder for neck throat problems.

Also the emergency button would be great to ease your worries, especially since it effects your breathing now.

Talk to doctor and ms nurse , they will have extra advice . Gp might be needed to check your throat so they can refer you to right people.

You definately need peace of mind, they say anxiety can even trigger or make your throat spasm worse. But the throat spasm causes anxiety . It’s a catch 22 situation. You should start making notes of any triggers you might have… because there are some things that people say starts them off. Hot ir cold food, acid reflux , stress , eating solid food…many triggers. If you make notes and compare them, you may be able to spot something and tell the nurse your findings.

Online there are lots of people making suggestions… type in throat spasm forum. You see lots of people comparing notes. Might be worth a try.

i have had throat spasms in the past but it hasn’t happened for ages thank goodness. It is scary when it first happens. Like almondOwl said try stroking your Adam’s apple it helps to relax your throat.
