Hello everyone, I am new the forums. I have heard of many Multiple Sclerosis patients who suffer from f****asciculations (muscle twitches; not to be confused with jerking limbs or muscles spasms). I am experiencing muscle twitching all over my body and am just wondering if muscle twitching is a common early symptom of Multiple Sclerosis. I am not exhibiting any other symptoms, but was wondering if Multiple Sclerosis fasciculations are a common early symptom, and if they occur (at any point in the disease’s progression), are they localized or random when they occur? Thank you!
I’ve not come across muscle twitching as a common early symptom of Multiple Sclerosis but that it is very common and can have many causes and the nedical term "benign fasiculation syndrome"has been coined . If it is a problem you should start investigations with your GP who might refer you to a neuro, neurolgical causes are not only MS. In some cases, certain drugs may be used for benign fasiculation syndrome.
Hiya and welcome.
This was my very first symptom 10 years ago. I have muscle twitches anywhere on my body. They started in my leg and now I can get them anywhere. I was told by my neuro that they were caused by the MS but as Vithfari says other conditions can cause them so best to mention to your GP.

Hello and welcome I had trouble with facial twitching long before my ms diagnosis. As already mentioned, it could relate to other problems, besides ms. Have a word with your gp…hope you get some answers. Take care
It can relate to many conditions… your GP will understand your request to be referred to a neuro. Even things like low calcium levels can cause body wide twitching.
I also have a lot of muscle fasciculations (twitches)
My Neuro has always told me that they shouldnt occur in MS patients… but some people do get them, they are unsure as to why since they belong to different systems.
That’s a good point anon, about low calcium levels and twitching. I’m off for a repeat check for low vitd tomorrow…I’m going to ask for a calcium level check as well I hope these answers have helped you karloff
I’m really sorry…my stupid mobile phone HELP!!
15 years with MS, and I didn’t know there was such a word, let alone a debate about it! I obviously don’t get out enough.
I hope that there isn’t too much amiss with you.
