Helloooooh out there,
Here’s something that’s been bothering me lately. I do Tai Chi. As one gets better at it one is supposed to sense , which is a form of energy. is supposed to feel like a tingly, electrical type thing. And It occurs in the hands (and other places, but we won’t go into that just now).
Right. I’ve got tingly, electrical type thingy in my hands all the time. Cue Amitriptyline. How can I distinguish between the two sensations?
Neuropathic pain v Chi.
Anybody else do tai chi? Anyone got any idea what I’m talking about?

hi anthony
i went to tai chi classes in a gym for years.
now i don’t want to risk going flat on my face in public.
i have done t’ai chi at the ms therapy centre.
best ever was a neuro pilates class by a woman who incorporated t’ai chi.
she showed us one where you are getting rid of negative energy by pushing down with your hands.
i really felt it go!
really though if you enjoy any form of exercise class, carry on.

I wasn’t asleep, I was thinking.
Hi Carole. It’s nice to have a sane conversation for a change.
I get a lot from my classes. I told my instructor I had MS before I joined. I’ve been lucky, he admitted to me later (last Thursday actually) that he had no idea how to approach my disability. He does classes with kids who are autistic though. We were both a bit surprised how my mobility improved so quickly.
After just a few lessons he grabbed his camera/dictaphone/satnav thingy and made videos charting my progress. Check out my moves on Neil Webster’s Facebook and tell me you’re impressed. I am.
Anything that keeps me out of a wheelchair is got to be good. And with PPMS you know it’s a one way street. It’s just that I don’t know how I’ll feel chi when it’s described the same way as neuropathic pain. As for falling over in public, I hung my dignity on a hook the day I got my diagnosis and I haven’t been back to collect it.
And there’s no need to SHOUT. I’M NOT DEAF.
I have to go now because there are three mad women on the other channel who need sorting out.
Love,
Anthony
