I hope you are all as well as can be and a very happy 2026 to you all.
Sorry I have not been on for a while. I had a fall in the shower in August, thankfully nothing broken just an infected haematoma which took weeks to heal.
My back seemed fine initially but I was told it was sciatica in September and still no improvement/never felt pain like this and I have always been quite tolerant to pain.
Had my neurology appointment on Tuesday and the neuro thinks the MS is quite stable just now but he has referred me for a spinal/lumber MRI as he feels a disc could be out or as he said floating?
I feel like a right moan but this has gubbed me.
I really life is good to you all and I will keep you all updated as to what happens.
Oh Mary, that sounds horrid. I am sorry that you have had to soldier on for so long with that back pain and hope that things move quickly to get to the bottom of what is going on and get a plan in place. It’s lovely to hear from you - I just wish that you were having a nicer time.
Morning everyone. A wee update. After being told I may have to wait 12/14weeks for my spinal MRI and looking down the route of going private I received a phone call at 4pm yesterday from my local hospital offering me a cancellation for an MRI at 7pm yesterday. It went well and I feel very grateful and I will let you know when I receive results.
Morning @marymcdermott, so sorry you’re going through all this, as if you haven’t enough to be going on with
I’m so glad to read though that at least you’ve had the scan done and I hope you get the results very quickly.
You take good care sending ((((((HUGS))))))

Nasty business back pain and hopefully, the scan will reveal the cause of the problem.
Apart from physio and trying to keep moving, I found acupuncture greatly eased my back pain and worth considering, if other treatments don’t really help much.
The MS Therapy Centres tend to offer this treatment and they are obviously experienced at helping people with MS. You can check if you have one in range on their website. Neuro Therapy Network | Centres
Thank you so much for your kind reply, I try to stay as mobile as possible but find it tricky at times as so very painful. Hopefully the results tell us something that may be relieved.
I hope you are well and thank you again for your kind reply
Hello to all you lovely people and I hope you are as well as can be.
I just wanted to let you all know how things are. I had the spinal/lumbar on Monday as I was admitted to hospital due to my symptoms becoming a bit more trickier and my GP had me admitted.
The MRI showed that I have spondylitis of the spine and have discs pinching my nerves. I have now being referred to the neurology team as an out patient and the orthopaedic doctor and physio on the ward said they may do surgery{unlikely due to the MS} but may increase the meds I am on or injections, I will find out when my appointment comes through.
I am kinda scared but at least I now have an answer as to why I am in so much pain.
Glad to hear you now know the cause of pain and have a proper treatment plan developing. Hopefully, the simpler measures will provide the pain relief you need, but it’s not all bad news if an operation is necessary.
I had decompression back surgery many years before official diagnosis and never had sciatica again, so it can end well.
My goodness, Mary, you are having a horrible time of it. I’m afraid that the new information seems to raise more questions than it answers, but it’s all progress towards finding what can be done to deal with that awful pain. I hope that you don’t have to wait for too long. I’m glad that your GP stuck to his/her guns and got you admitted so that they could find out more.
