Morning everyone, I was hoping somebody could shed some light as to whether my symptoms could be MS or not as I haven’t had any of the main symptoms I’ve read about.
I have been been suffering extreme fatigue for a number of years, around a month ago I started to have pins and needles in my foot my leg hands and arms so went straight to the doctors for an emergency appointment. She checked and said I wasn’t suffering a stroke as had no weakness but that she would run some tests
the tests came back that I had low folate levels and also my b12 was slightly below normal so I have been taking folic acid and b12 tablets.
I still have the pins and needles and numbness in my calf and have had a dizzy spell where I nearly fainted.
Ive also had constipation on and off.
I have been referred to a consultant whose letter stated partial myelitis and has booked me in for an MRI scan.
I don’t have any weakness nor have I stumbled or dropped anything and have had no vision problems.
Could it still be ms without these symptoms?
ive also been reading into peripheral neuropathy as a possible cause.
Many help greatly appreciated.
Hi, it`s difficult to say if this is MS or not. The MRI may reveal something.
MS has a huge variance in symptoms and no 2 sufferers go through exactly the same pattern.
I know its hard not to google or delve into what
s going on, when we know somethings`s wrong, but we really should let the docs do their job and hang in there.
I have many years experience of this myself.

Hello,
Sorry to hear of the problems you’re having. It is a worrying time.
I probably can’t be much help as I have not been properly diagnosed - my neurologist has said ‘probable transverse myelitis’.
I haven’t had any real weakness either (well, a little bit that seems to relate to muscle spasms in my right arm and knee, but nothing I’d have gone to the GP about ordinarily). I’ve only dropped things because my main symptom has been tingling/strange sensations in my hands/fingers, plus lack of heat sensation in finger tips - all this has affected my dexterity and ability to detect how hard I’m gripping something and how hot it is! I have had no vision problems.
However the possibility of MS has been raised by both GP and neuro, even without major weakness or vision problems, so in answer to your question, I’d say that unfortunately yes - apparently! I do have a spinal cord lesion that was visible on my first MRI, though, so it may be this that had raised the MS question more than the symptoms in themselves.
But I don’t want to lead you to worry unnecessarily - I HATE uncertainty but over the last few weeks have just had to learn to take each day as it comes as there will, unfortunately, be no fast answers. Best of luck - hope you don’t have to wait too long to get to the bottom of it.

Hi
It’s a bugger not knowing whether you’ve got MS symptoms or not. The problem is that MS has so many potential symptoms, you could have it, or maybe not. As you’ve said, it could be peripheral neuropathy, and Sarah has said she may have transverse myelitis. MS symptoms are shared with so many other diseases and disorders that it’s impossible to state whether a symptom you have is due to X or Y.
Unfortunately all you can do is wait for the MRI scan and with a bit of luck get some answers from a neurologist. I presume that’s the specialist you’ve been referred to.
I hope you don’t have too long to wait for answers.
