I am sleeping for 14-16 hours a day. I get up wash & change and quite easily go to bed at 10pm and sleep another 14-16 hours. I.m all for listening to my body but is this part of MS. Help advice? Maz.![]()
Hi @mazmiller111 Sorry Maz, no advice really, just know you are not on your own, I have SPMS and a lot of different symptoms, but chronic fatigue is the one that gets me more, it means I can’t do the things I want to do, no matter how much I manage it.
Years ago they used to give out meds for it, now where I live in West Yorkshire they don’t, have you ask your team about meds ?
Take care and good luck,
Jean
MS fatigue can be overwhelming, and many people find it’s very different from ordinary tiredness. Sleeping for long periods can happen with MS, but sleeping 14–16 hours regularly is definitely something that’s worth discussing with your GP or MS nurse if you haven’t already.
There can be other causes too, such as medication side effects, poor sleep quality, low vitamin levels, thyroid problems, anaemia, or an infection, so it’s important not to assume it’s “just MS.”
In the meantime, keep listening to your body, but I’d encourage you to seek medical advice so they can check whether anything treatable is contributing to how exhausted you feel.
Hi Jean I’m in Cumbria the far end of no money available. My nearest is Newcastle I’m not on any hot list, but my gp is great. I use this site and Google as much info as I can. Just knowing I’m not alone helps.![]()
