Hi. I’ve been diagnosed with MS 3.5 years now. I was in shock too but found it helpful to explain why I was experiencing random physical changes. It hasn’t really changed my life atm. I just can’t walk long distances.
I love smoking. I am not ashamed and I know it isn’t good for me. Don’t we all. I am 63 years old.
Yes everyone ā€œsuggestsā€ I should stop. But I now look everyone in eye and tell them I am not prepared to stop. The only person it maybe damaging is myself and therefore it’s my decision.
Since I was diagnosed not much has changed.
Hope this helps.

I too stopped by using the info & techniques in the book by Allen Carr.
I substituted will power with distraction and got past the chemical addiction, then broke the mental habit by feeling so much better.
I am very cynical and laughed at the title of the book, but it worked out ok for me.

I’m glad I’m not the only one

The main thing is in our mind. The addiction is designed by our brain. I couldn’t quit smoking untill I understood that it’s totoally unnecessary and really harmful for me.
