Sleep apnea help ???

Hi,

I have been waking up for the last year and half with headaches. I was told today that i have very mild sleep apnea. I was told i could either make life style changes, or be reffered to another hospital that deal with sleep apnea, but i have to wait for a while for a appointment as it is not urgent. I have already lost 1 and half stone. I am not really that much over weight. I am feeling worried now, as it seems it will take a long while to get a appointment, and being left with sleep apnea, and worried what damage it could doing ? While i wait for appointment. Does anyone have sleep apnea ?Or can offer advice ? I have rrms. I dont know why the doctor said to make life style changes, does that stop sleep apnea? How about the damage to the body ? Thanks for any replies.

My mum has it and I’m pretty sure my partner does too. Hers isn’t weight related but if you can achieve a healthier weight it is advantageous. Her biggest advice as we were weirdly talking about it today is not to drink heavily because it can be dangerous. She also sleeps raised. She says it can damage/put pressure on your heart so swift intervention is probably necessary. I hope the wait isn’t too long for you!

Hi NCM. I think I have it. I only notice it - only become aware of it when I fall asleep on my back and sometimes wake myself up with the snorting slight gasping movements and sounds.

I should probably take it more seriously than I do but I try to sleep on my side which certainly seems to stop it.
